Riverside Park (Cee’s Fun Foto Challenge: Lights)

Riverside Park

“There are darknesses in life and there are lights, and you are one of the lights, the light of all lights.” | Bram Stoker

Took this photo as I was wandering around during my lunch break yesterday. Then, I happened to stumble upon Cee’s Fun Foto Challenge, which you can check out here.

I love that this challenge was created because it combines words, photography, and light. Keep walking towards the light.

Where there is love…

“Where there is love, nothing is too much trouble and there is always time.”  | Abdul Baha

I discovered this quote from a podcast actually. Lewis Howes interviews Justin Baldoni on his show, the School of Greatness. (my favorite podcast of all time…might I add).

— Side note…perhaps you are starting to notice that everything I write about somehow connects to something else. Another thing I love…connections. Nothing is random. It all has its place + it is thoughtful. —

ANYWAYS.

This quote literally sums up how I love. Want to know my priorities? Look at where I spend my time.

Time is an invaluable currency. I want to make sure I do not waste it, because it is precious. And if I have to waste it, I hope I get to waste it with these three people next to me.

Hold My Girl.

Hello lovely humans.

Today, I have decided to split my page up into a few different categories: sights, sounds, words, and people. (I guess that is something you should know about me… I like organization.) Creating these different tabs helps me to organize my thoughts and hopefully makes it easier to find content you actually want to read.

So, welcome to the first S O U N D S post. This is an exciting one (at least for me and I hope for you all).

The first featured song is: Hold My Girl by George Ezra. Acoustic version, of course. (another thing you should know about me…. ACOUSTIC MUSIC IS EVERYTHING).

why do i love it so much, you ask? Great Question.

The simple answer is because it sounds so…calm, peaceful, tender… hm soft. It is softness.

And quite recently, I’ve been thinking a lot about love. All types of love – self, romantic, family, etc. And while I have been pondering this conundrum of a topic, I’ve realized that my idea of love has changed greatly (thank goodness).

Let’s face it, I will always be a hopeless romantic, but love has shifted for me from being this passionate, intensity that needs to be kept alive with adventure and constant change.

Instead, love has become this song. A quiet proclamation that you hold space for someone. A soft acknowledgement that you matter, that you are heard, that you are understood. A tender recognition that no matter time or place, this person will show up for you.

Which sort of reminds me of a quote I love so much…which you can find here.

But for now, I hope you enjoy this song. I hope you feel loved and supported when listening to it. I hope you feel respected and heard. I know I do.

Lyrics so you can read along:

I’ve been waiting for you
To come around and tell me the truth
‘Bout everything that you’re going through
My girl you’ve got nothing to lose
Cold nights and the Sunday mornings
On your way and out of the grey
I’ve got time, I’ve got love
Got confidence you’ll rise above
Give me a minute to hold my girl
Give me a minute to hold my girl
Crowded town or silent bed
Pick a place to rest your head
Give me a minute to hold my girl
Give me a minute to hold my girl
I’ve been dreaming ’bout us
Working hard and saving it up
We’ll go and see the man on the moon
My girl we’ve got nothing tolose
Cold nights and the Sunday mornings
On your way and out of the grey
I’ve got time, I’ve got love
Got confidence you’ll rise above
Give me a minute to hold my girl
Give me a minute to hold mygirl
Crowded town or silent bed
Pick a place to rest your head and
Give me a minute to hold my girl
Give me a minute to hold my girl
My girl, my girl
It takes one hot second to turn it around
It takes one hot second to turn it around
I’ve got time, I’ve got love
Got confidence you’ll rise above
Give me a minute to hold my girl
Give me a minute to hold my girl
Crowded town or silent bed
Pick a place to rest your head and
Give me a minute to hold my girl
Give me a minute to hold my girl
I’ve got time, I’ve got love
Got confidence you’ll rise above
Give me a minute to hold my girl
Give me a minute to hold my girl
Crowded town or silent bed
Pick a place to rest your head and
Give me a minute to hold my girl
Give me a minute to hold my girl

Opening Thoughts

Good Morning Everyone,

From where I am sitting right now (at my desk at work)…I have been thinking a lot about this little project of mine. And I realized that I should probably explain my concept a bit more.

You know that feeling, right? When an idea is inside your head and you become so familiar with it, that you sort of forget other people are not crammed inside your brain. They can’t hear your thoughts or see your visions (or if they can that’s impressive and a little frightening for privacy reasons). Anyways, because they do not have a front row seat to all your streams of consciousness, they are not able to fully grasp the idea being presented UNLESS (pause for dramatic effect), that’s right, you TELL them.

So here is me telling you instead of trying to make you analyze my brain. You are welcome.

What am I going to do in this space?

  • interview friends and family members about their lives & teachings
  • make voice memo recordings or videos of our interactions
  • blog posts will be transcriptions of these interviews

BUT WHY STOP THERE? (too much…ok..too much…dialing it down)

In all seriousness, I thought I would continue filling this space with meaningful lessons, pieces of art, podcasts, words that have inspired me. At my core, I truly love to learn and all of these mediums have somehow shaped me into the human I am today. So, much like my family is a main teacher in my life, so are these other small bits.

Here’s to learning together.

Welcome

Hello!

This is my first post on this new page and I really want to express my gratitude for taking the time to stop by and be part of this story.

This idea was borne out of a very personal experience and the want to preserve the people close to me. It also came from realizing that some of our best teachers are not half a world away, but instead they are sitting right next to us.

Much love.
